2018 Annual Meeting: Local Information
Share |

Most annual meeting events will take place in Buffalo Niagara County Convention Center with guest rooms at the Hyatt Regency Buffalo.

Guest Room Reservations

The Hyatt Regency is offering a nightly conference rate for a room with single or double occupancy of $172 US plus tax, October 15-21. There is also a limited block of rooms for students for the same nights at the rate of $139 US plus tax. Rooms must be reserved by September 15 to get this conference rate.

Getting There and Getting Around

Visit Buffalo Niagara provides information about transportation to Buffalo, in Buffalo, and to the wider region.

The Buffalo Hyatt Regency also provides tips for getting to the hotel, including information about an airport shuttle and using public transportation. The formal address for the hotel and conference center is Two Fountain Plaza. However, if using a GPS device, please use this address: 300 Pearl Street Buffalo, 14202.

Taxis (with or without reservations) and Niagara Frontier Transit Authority (NFTA) public transit serve the airport and general metro area; Uber and Lyft are also available.

Guests may park at the Augspurger Parking Ramp located adjacent to the hotel across the street, or the open lot located directly across the street. Parking rates vary at both locations.

Exploring the Area

Plan to come early to find out why the New York Times called Buffalo one of its “52 Places to Go in 2018," or to venture out for many more sights worth seeing beyond Buffalo. The NYT has also recently covered "36 Hours in Buffalo: Classic architecture, international cuisine, adventurous activities and serious art: This Western New York city is blossoming," by Amy Bloom (New York Times, June 28, 2018), and "From Refugees to a Reunion, Buffalo Lives Up to Its Welcoming Reputation," by Jada Yuan (New York Times, June 19, 2018).

The Local Planning Committee has arranged pre-conference tours for those who can come early; see ticketed events for more information. Alternatively, the Local Planning Committee has prepared ideas for self-guided excursions for those who can extend their stay, or for those who have a few hours to get away. Visit the Finger Lakes with its winemakers and cider mills. Bring your passport for a self-guided journey across the Canadian border after the meeting ends, over the Niagara River for more spectacular vistas of Niagara Falls, and abundant day-trip opportunities throughout the nearby Niagara Peninsula, Lake Ontario coastline, the Golden Horseshoe Region, and the city of Toronto. See also Visit Niagara Buffalo for general visitors’ information, including guided and self-guided tours and excursions.

More information about the city and easily accessed attractions will be released closer to the meeting.
