The Spring 2012 AFS Folklore and Education Section Newsletter has been posted to About AFS/Sections/Folklore and Education Section.

This issue includes:

  • News of the release of Through the Schoolhouse Door: Folklore, Community, Curriculum, by Paddy Bowman and Lynne Hamer (Utah State University Press), a guide to incorporating folklore and folk arts into the K-16 curriculum.
  • "Recess Lore and Advocacy," by Anna Beresin, describes how her service-learning organization, Recess Access, advocates for traditional children’s play.
  • A report on new resources -- the latest books, websites, and other resources in folklore and education.
