"The Raven" OnesieThe Folk Narrative Section is pleased to announce that we have opened a CafePress store! CafePress allows individuals and organizations to offer online stores with customized merchandise, and CafePress handles the e-commerce side of things, including secure checkout and payment, as well as order fulfillment. With no upfront costs, opening the store meant little financial risk to the section, but hopefully lots of pleasure for our members and some profit for our coffers. You can access our CafePress store at

Through the store, we sell a variety of folk narrative-themed merchandise, including stainless steel water bottles, travel mugs, tea tumblers, tote bags, onesies, bumper stickers, and mouse pads. We anticipate changing our designs each year. For 2012, our merchandise is adorned with public domain illustrations by Anning Bell from Marian Edwardes’ translation of Grimms’ Household Tales (1912). This year’s theme was selected to complement our section’s anticipated activities and Stith Thompson lecture at AFS in New Orleans, which will celebrate the 200th anniversary of the publication of the Grimms’ Kinder- und Hausmärchen.

So far, our members have responded enthusiastically to this merchandise – many of them have posted pictures of their AFS Folk Narrative Section gear to our section’s Facebook page ( We anticipate adding additional items to our store, so keep checking and bear in mind that it’s for a great cause.
