The Missouri Folklore Society has openings in its publication schedule on a broad range of folklore and folkways, and not limited to Missouri or the region. The publication editors are interested in both documentary and analytic projects. Recent publications include the repertoire of a professional storyteller (and memoir of a black girlhood in the Bootheel region); a collection on foodways and a gathering of essays by public folklorists. Projects in process or under development include the (annotated) diary of a confederate Missouri woman, essays by young and emerging folklorists about contemporary forms of lore, including raves, HvZ, Reddit and other online communities; essays by and about the young Latinx community in Kansas City, and collections of prize-winning papers from subgroups of AFS. The Missouri Folklore Society has published miscellanies in the past, so the editors will happily receive papers on isolated topics.

If you wish to propose a volume, or if you know of someone with an unpublished thesis or monograph, please contact Adam Davis at
