UL Lafayette Seeks Director of Center for Louisiana Studies

The University of Louisiana (UL) at Lafayette is seeking a Director for the Center for Louisiana Studies, the world’s premier research, archival and programming institution focusing on Louisiana culture, history and folklore. At the crossroads of the American, European, African, and Caribbean worlds, this dynamic Center is dedicated to researching, publicizing, promoting, and preserving Louisiana’s cultures and history. It is at the heart of a vibrant community with deep historical roots and traditions that regularly celebrates its heritage through festivals,concerts, exhibitions, art, forums, lecture series, and publications. The Center has been a flagship of the University in its efforts to explore, preserve, disseminate and celebrate the state’s rich and unique heritage since its inception in 1973.

The Center for Louisiana Studies is composed of three divisions: the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Press, the Research Division, and the Programming and Special Projects Division. The Center also serves as a headquarters for the Louisiana Historical Association. The Director is responsible for all activities and personnel in the Center as well as directing the activities of the Center’s archives, particularly its important folklore collections, and the publications of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Press.
