The Department of Communication and Performance at East Tennessee State University is seeking an Assistant or Associate Professor and Program Director in Storytelling. This position carries full-time, tenure-track status starting in August 2018, pending availability of funds.

The department seeks an energetic and inspiring faculty member with strong academic credentials who will help it move its newly revised master’s degree program in communication and storytelling studies forward, broadening its scope, visibility, and appeal. The department aims to hire someone who understands, and will help students understand, storytelling not only as folk and traditional art, but also as contemporary practice with socially transformative potential. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to interdisciplinarity, intersectionality, cultural equity, and ethics of storytelling practices.
