This year’s session of the UN Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples in Geneva, Switzerland featured a side event on July 11, 2017, hosted by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).  This side event addressed WIPO’s extensive capacity building initiatives for indigenous peoples and the means through which indigenous peoples can participate in WIPO's activities and resources.

This event presented regional multi-stakeholder workshops, new WIPO publications pertaining to indigenous rights, further training opportunities, and an account of the workings of the WIPO Intergovernmental Committee on Intellectual Property, Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge, and Folklore (IGC).  For more information about the side event, visit this WIPO website article.
