The Center for the Study of Social Difference in the Faculty of Arts & Sciences at Columbia University is a research center dedicated to the study of gender, race and sexuality in global perspective. It will house a three-year research initiative on "Religion and the Global Framing of Gender Violence" administered by the Institute for Social and Economic Research and Policy. Launched with a grant from the Henry Luce Foundation, the project brings together an international community of scholars, experts, journalists, and activists for events, workshops, and international conferences to study and publish reports on the role of religion in naming, framing, and governing gendered violence, with a focus on the Middle East and South Asia. This position is funded for three years only.
