The 2017-2018 Core Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program competition is now open! Award descriptions can be found in individual listings in Fulbright’s online catalog at Grant activities include teaching, research, teaching/research, and administrator seminar grants – there is no shortage of options for any scholar or qualified professional who may have an interest in the program.

The following links will be useful for potential applicants:

Application Guidelines: including sample project statements
Review Criteria: to inform the various components of your application

Outreach Events: a calendar of conferences, workshops, and webinars

The Core Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program is distinct from the Fulbright Specialist Program. Most grants are a semester in length, but there are many short-term or Flex opportunities for you to consider.

The focus of the Core Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program differs from the Fulbright Specialist Program in several key aspects while still affecting positive change in international education. Whereas the Fulbright Specialist Program is entirely host-driven in its project outcomes, the Core Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program allows for longer-term collaborations between U.S. scholars and foreign faculty. Core awards can include research or teaching-only components.

The lifetime limits of Fulbright Scholar grants have been lifted in recent years. Although preference is given to applicants who have not completed a Core Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program grant, alumni are encouraged to apply to the program if they believe that there would be significant impact as a result of their project.
