Tips for Submitting Proposals After Hours

Year after year, hundreds of proposals for the annual meeting are submitted in the last two days before the deadline for submissions; in the last hours, proposals come in by the minute. 99% of them will come through successfully and without incident. Still, most years, we stand by the phones in these last days to solve problems that may arise—but we're only there during business hours. 

If you have trouble submitting your proposal, chances are that you have encountered one of these immediately resolvable issues:

  • Trouble signing in
    If you used the "reset password" link but you haven't received the promised email within a few minutes, check your junk mail folder. If the reset message isn't there either, perhaps we have a different email address associated with your account; try checking alternate or former  email addresses, if you can.

  • Trouble with the "Submit" button on the proposal form
    When you hit "Submit," you should see a confirmation page. If instead it seems that nothing happens, scroll to the top of the form to look for an error message—you may have missed a required field. (We have no control over the appearance of the error message, which is determined by our service provider.) Whether or not there is an error message, you should also "request a new math problem" to reset the validation code before you hit Submit again. 

  • An error message that says "Or leave the field blank" 
    This intermittent problem has been reported; it goes away if you request a new math problem, answer it, and hit submit.

  • High traffic errors. The high volume of proposal submissions sometimes leads to error messages concerning processing errors on the website. Those frequently resolve themselves if you wait and try again later.

If you run into a problem that isn't so easily resolved, don't worry, but do send us an email right away. We will return during business hours and we'll make sure that all issues involving good-faith attempts to submit proposals on time are sorted out.
