The archivist position is located in the American Folklife Center (AFC), in the Office of the Associate Librarian for Library Services. The purpose of this position is to arrange and describe multi-format collections, including audio and video recordings, photographs, manuscripts, and other documentation acquired by the American Folklife Center; to apply knowledge of metadata standards and best practices to establish archival and bibliographic control over collection materials through the use and reuse of inventories, guides, registers, lists, catalogs, databases, and other finding aids; to participate in the development and implementation of preservation and digitization policies and procedures relevant to the collections; and to perform other duties in support of the American Folklife Center and Library Services, as assigned.
