The independent Publore listserv is a valuable tool and communication link that serves the public folklore community. Though Publore has no direct tie to AFS, many AFS members use Publore as their primary channel for interacting with others in their field. Participants share news, items of interest, requests for information or assistance, job postings, announcements of events, exhibits and publications, and use it to coordinate AFS annual meeting panels and rooming.

The Publore listserv was launched in December 1996 by Claude Stephenson of New Mexico Arts, who although now retired, still hosts the group with the assistance of Mike Luster, Arkansas Folklife Program. The list currently includes more than 900 subscribers.

Publore also has a presence on Facebook, in the Publore Annex: More than 370 group members use this platform to share media files, links, and more casual exchanges. The Publore Annex is a closed group; Facebook users must click on "Join Group," then await approval.
