Texas Tech University Invites Applications for Assistant Professor of Ethnology

The Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work (SASW) at Texas Tech University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in ethnology to begin September 1, 2016.

SASW is seeking a scholar with research interests in the anthropology of tourism/heritage management as it relates to indigenous communities and an active research program in the Americas, with preference given to an individual working in the US Southwest, Mexico, Central America, or South America.

The successful candidate will contribute to the curriculum by teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses in cultural anthropology/ethnology including Introduction to World Cultures and Ethnology, Anthropological Theory: Understanding Language and Culture, and Methods in the Study of Culture and Language at the undergraduate level, and Method and Theory in Cultural Anthropology at the graduate level. In addition, the new colleague will be expected to develop courses related to his or her specializations, to mentor graduate students, and to involve graduate students in research. Service duties include program building, as well as commitment to extra-curricular activities. Service to the department, college, university, and community is expected. The successful candidate will be expected to seek outside research funding.
