The University Libraries at Appalachian State University seeks a creative, forward-looking individual to be the Processing Archivist in Special Collections. This is a twelve-month, tenure track position and may be filled at the Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor rank. The successful candidate will help the Special Collections team transform access, enhance discovery, and stimulate student learning using primary materials.

Special Collections is part of the University Libraries’ newly-organized maker group that is creating a makerspace and an experimental classroom, as well as initiating exciting digital scholarship projects. Special Collections includes four collecting areas: the W. L. Eury Appalachian Collection, Stock Car Racing Collection, University Archives, and Rare Books and Manuscripts. The W.L. Eury Appalachian Collection is the premier repository for materials focusing on the history and culture of the Appalachian region.

Library personnel work in a collegial team-based environment, are members of the University faculty, participate in the Library’s instruction program, and engage in active programs of scholarship and professional service.  The Library offers strong support for professional development activities, including publishing, presenting, and attending conferences and workshops.
