George Mason University Seeks Assistant Professor in Digital Humanities

The George Mason University, Department of English seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Digital Humanities to begin Fall 2016. Applicants should offer a strong research profile in the study of the social and cultural roles and effects of new media and digital technologies; the ideal candidate will have extensive experience with coding and building digital humanities projects. Research and teaching interests will focus on theory, history and analysis of new media and digital technology; feminist, queer, and/or postcolonial approaches are particularly welcome. Specific specializations might include, but are not limited to, the impact of digital media on subjectivity and community; the role of social media in contemporary culture; digital culture and new digital divides; software theory; and/or digital technology in globalization. Candidates may also teach in any area of study offered by the English Department, including writing and rhetoric, folklore, film and media studies, or literature.
