The Society for Applied Anthropology invites you to submit proposals for panels, papers, and posters for the spring 2016 SfAA meetings in Vancouver, BC, Canada (March 29-April 2). Its theme this year is “Intersections.” As a part of this, the Society hopes to pull together sessions and/or special events on the intersection of museum practice and applied anthropology/related disciplines.

If your research or professional activities touch on museum studies, please consider participation! Innovative presentation formats are welcomed and encouraged.

Topics can include a broad array of subject matter that touch on the current opportunities or challenges facing museum-based or museum-related anthropology, such as collaborative curation, community engagement, museums as sites of dialogue, heritage tourism, representation and privilege, challenges in collecting practices, folklore and folklife.

You can submit your paper or poster idea directly to the SfAA website at The submission deadline is October 15. You can also learn more, express interest in sessions, and start session organization on this Google Doc: There you will find a few sessions-in-progress already.

Don't hesitate to contact Kristin Sullivan at, Alaka Wali at, or Amy Carattini at for assistance or more information.
