Tickets are available now for the 2014 Dan Crowley Memorial Concert, sponsored by the Storytelling Section of the American Folklore Society, featuring Dovie Thomason in "Walking the Branching Path" on Saturday, November 8, 8:00-9:00 pm at the Convention Center: Sweeney A/B.

Dovie Thomason is a noted professional storyteller of Kiowa Apache, Lakota and Scottish lineage, who has worked extensively in the intratribal worlds of reservation schools and pow-wows, and also in the extra-tribal worlds of revival storytelling festivals, libraries, public schools, and universities. As her stories are bound in a web of traditional obligations and sacred responsibilities she has had to thread a complex path to maintain the integrity and intentionality of her work. In this storytelling concert, Dovie will tell a selection of her traditional tales, framed by reflections on her sources and on the ethics of intratribal and extra-tribal tradition-bearing in the contemporary world.

Tickets: $15, $10 for Storytelling Section members. See the 2014 Annual Meeting in our online store to purchase tickets.

Contact or section conveners Milbre Burch ( or Joseph Sobol ( for instructions to claim the section member discount.
