The American Federation of Teachers announced a new partnership with Freelancers Union to offer adjuncts – even those who are not members of AFT – access to benefits and services. The announcement was made on July 11th. The partnership offers adjuncts web portal access to a tailored online community as well as programs and services offered by both unions starting this fall.

In a news release, Randi Weingarten, president of AFT, said, "This partnership provides access to much-needed benefits contingent faculty wouldn't otherwise have, as well as access to information, resources and supports to improve their lives and professions. It also provides an opportunity to connect with continent faculty across America who are facing the same challenges and issues.”
