US State Department Comments on World Bank Safeguard Revisions Address Cultural Heritage Issues

As the World Bank's multiyear revision of its safeguarding policies, which are intended to ensure that World Bank financing projects do not produce social or environmental harm, now continues in its second phase, the United States has recently issued its official comments on the review process. Included in these comments are the nation's recommendations for safeguards involving indigenous peoples and cultural heritage issues.
