Raffle/Rifa to Support Latino and Chicano Section Events

Enter a raffle to support the annual fundraising efforts of the Folklore Latino, Latinoamericano, y Caribeño Section & Chicano and Chicana Folklore Section.  All proceeds will fund the Sections' 2014 AFS conference events, like the section’s Student Paper Prize.


There will be seven winners; each winner will win one book, authored by section members.

  • Creating a Latino Identity in the Nation's Capital: The Latino Festival by Olivia Cadaval
  • Poetry and Violence by John McDowell
  • Chicana Traditions, Canicula, and Dancing across Borders by Norma Cantu
  • Chicana Traditions and a copy of her DVD "Danza Folklorica Escénica: El Sello Artístico de Rafael Zamarripa" by Olga Najera
  • Unmasking Class Gender and Sexuality in Nicaraguan Festival by Katey Borland
  • Afro-Cuban Diasporas in the Atlantic World by Solimar Otero
  • Mariachi Music in America: Experiencing Music, Expressing Culture by Daniel Sheehy


Tickets are $3 and will be on sale in the book room at the Indiana University’s Trickster Press table in the Waterplace Ballroom.


The winners will be announced in the Waterplace Ballroom on Saturday, October 19, at 12:30 pm.
