Washington, DC—The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) has announced 21 awards totaling $899,616 matched with $421,809 of non-federal funds for Native American/Native Hawaiian Museum Services Program Grants. IMLS received 45 applications requesting $2,013,008 in funds.

"These grants, awarded to Native American and Native Hawaiian organizations, will help them preserve and protect their cultural heritage,” said Susan Hildreth, IMLS Director. "They fund a wide range of projects, from an academic conference on a historic tribal war, to an upgrade of exhibit lighting to professional museum standards, to an illustrated Native language dictionary. I am proud that our program helps to sustain the culture and history of the Native American and Native Hawaiian peoples.”
