Virginia Tech Now Offering MA in Material Culture and Public Humanities

Virginia Tech has announced a new MA in Material Culture and Public Humanities, jointly administered by the College of Architecture and Urban Studies and the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences. The MA program will start in Fall 2013. A 30-hour degree, the program prepares students to interpret cultural materials, artifacts, and practices and apply such interpretation to the public sphere, promoting creative solutions to community challenges.The degree prepares students for a wide range of careers in museums, historical societies, and community and cultural organizations. Students will be required to do a 6-credit internship, choosing from a variety of museums and other cultural organizations. An additional 6 credits may be taken by those choosing to write a thesis.
