The Nila International Folklore Film Festival of India (NIFFFI) has opened a Call for Entry for their film competition. NIFFFI is an annual festival that aims to showcase films based on or emerging from Indigenous cultures and folklore from around the world.

Given the global pandemic and its fallout, the first edition of NIFFFI will be a three-day, online, virtual experience held from October 30 to November 1. They invite participants to this unique and interactive experience centered around folklore and told through music, spoken word, and motion pictures. Entrants must ensure elements of folklore form a central part of their submissions, including but not limited to tales, myths, legends, superstitions, fairy tales, or aspects of Indigenous heritage such as arts, crafts, knowledge, traditions, and ways of life.

These narratives may pertain to any Indigenous society or region. Since the river Nila (Bharathapuzha) has been the basis for much of the organization's work, NIFFFI would also like to offer a special invitation for filmmakers whose narratives are based around rivers.

Apart from screening selected movies, the film festival shall include panel discussions, Q&A sessions, and folklore performances. Join this virtual gathering of film aficionados, folklore enthusiasts, and industry professionals and share with NIFFFI your thirst for new knowledge and passion for cinema.

To submit, please fill out the NIFFFI 2020 Submission Form. You can find the form and other guidelines on the NIFFFI website.
