The American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) is pleased to announce the Leading Edge Fellowship program, which aims to demonstrate the potential of people with advanced degrees in the humanities and humanistic social sciences to solve problems outside the academy. In the first cycle of the fellowship competition, ACLS seeks applications from recent PhDs in art and architectural history and related fields who seek to help communities respond to issues caused by the COVID-19 crisis and advance public understanding of the pandemic. This initiative is made possible through the support of the Henry Luce Foundation.

Participating partners include:

  • Arts Aliiance Illinois
  • Center for Craft
  • Central District Forum for Arts and Ideas
  • Educational Video Center
  •  MASS MoCA
  •  Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage

The application deadline is July 31, 2020 (9pm EDT). For more information on the fellowship or on the partners' projects, visit ACLS Leading Edge Fellowship
