Partners for Sacred Places (PSP) seeks candidates for the position of Project Coordinator to support the successful coordination and delivery of a new initiative: Preserving and Strengthening the Cultural Heritage of Sacred Places in Central Appalachia. This three-year, grant-funded project will identify and support historic sacred places within the Central Appalachian region that include significant or important examples of folk art or design, and represent the range of the regionally significant religious traditions. The project involves:

  • Advancing the care and preservation of historic religious properties in Central Appalachia by identifying, convening, and building the capacity of ten to sixteen historic churches (or organizations stewarding historic properties) within two project cohorts;
  • Supporting these churches (or organizations) through training, technical assistance, and engaging them with their communities and providing re-grants to fund successful planning, repair and restoration projects with building professionals, local artists, and artisans.

The Project Coordinator will operate as key field personnel, based in one of the program region states (West Virginia, eastern Kentucky, east Tennessee, and western North Carolina.) This is a part-time position and will require travel within the program region and on occasion to Partners headquarters in Philadelphia.
