2020 AFS Meeting Proposal Submission Ends March 31

Registration and proposal submission are now open for the 2020 Annual Meeting of the American Folklore Society. Proposals are due March 31.

See the AFS Review for the call for papers.

You should know:

  1. ALL PRESENTERS must 1) register and 2) submit their own program information to AFS. These are two separate steps, to be completed by all prospective presenters, including forum participants and co-presenters. You will receive an email with a personalized link to the submission system after you’ve registered for the meeting. For more information, see How to Submit a Proposal.
  2. You can register and start your proposal early, before you’ve written your abstract! You only have to know what kind of proposal you intend to submit. There is an advantage to starting this multi-step process early. March 31 is not a good time to discover unexpected difficulties with signing in, submitting payment, or accessing the proposal submission system.
  3. You’ll need to keep track of your registration confirmation email, since that is your pathway to the proposal submission portal! Contact if you can’t find the email.
  4. Note for preorganized panels: The chair of the session will submit the proposal for the session as a whole, but panel participants must submit their own information using the proposal submission portal. Panelists should start early, so they can share their individual submission ID with the session chair, who must then submit those IDs with the session data by March 31.
  5. No registration refunds will be issued to those who must withdraw after May 1. Anyone whose proposal is not accepted may request a full refund until August 31. See Annual Meeting Polices for more information.
