Do you have a new or forthcoming book, film or exhibit?

The AFS Review, which is emailed to 800+ subscribers at least every two weeks, is a great way to share your news of your recently released work. Submit your announcement of films and book-length work for publication in Recent Releases. News of other publicly available work in other mediums is also very welcome.

Because of limited staff capacity, AFS relies on submissions to the newsletter: Word or text documents are preferred; no pdfs.

To subscribe to the AFS Review, join AFS as a full or web-only member, and opt in for the New in the Review email digest.

For New Releases: The International Polar Institute Press (IPI) announces the publication of Dinjii Vadzaih Dhidlit: The Man Who Became a Caribou: Gwich'in Stories and Conversations from Alaska and the Yukon. This bilingual volume, co-edited by folklorist Craig Mishler and elder Kenneth Frank, is based on a series of oral interviews with eleven Gwich'in elders living in rural northeast Alaska and the Yukon Territory. Richly illustrated, the book covers a wide range of topics from traditional hunting methods, meat processing, storage, cooking, and the use of caribou from ancient to modern times. The book includes a robust and detailed Gwich’in naming system for caribou anatomy, conversations about potlatches, as well as personal experience narratives and traditional stories.
