As you pack for the largest gathering of folklorists in the world, you’ll find links below to resources on our website that can help you prepare.

General Meeting Information

The 2019 Annual Meeting page is the information hub, with links to the meeting program, hotel and local information, meeting policies, and everything else related to the meeting.

Meeting News

Find a round-up of all the meeting-related news that has appeared in the AFS Review this year at 2019 Annual Meeting in the AFS Review, including a recent slew of guides to the program that have been curated by AFS special interest sections and committees, prize news, and suggestions for preparing for the meeting.

How to Stay Informed

Presenters, inform AFS immediately if your plans change, so that corrections can be shared with all attendees.

Late-breaking news will be posted to social media and integrated into the online program, but the single best place to find all updates is the online program addendum, which includes general announcements and late withdrawals. Check it regularly throughout the meeting, since all subsequent presentations shift to fill the gap when a paper is withdrawn.

Transportation

Most program events will take place at the Hyatt Regency Baltimore Inner Harbor at 300 Light Street, Baltimore, MD 21202. You can find information about how to get there at https://www.afsnet.org/page/AM19LocalInfo

Exploring the Area

The Local Planning Committee has prepared an insiders' guide for visitors to Baltimore. Come to the registration table to pick up a printed insiders’ guide as well as information provided by VisitBaltimore, https://baltimore.org/.

Meeting Registration

The AFS meeting registration desk will be located outside the Constellation Ballroom on the 2nd floor. Registration hours are 2:00–5:00 pm on Wednesday, 7:30 am–2:30 pm on Thursday and Friday, and 7:30 am– 12:00 noon on Saturday.

Social Media

Follow AFS on Twitter @afsfolklorists, and track posts about the meeting with the hashtag #afsam19. AFS is on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/AmericanFolkloreSociety.

AFS Office Closed

The AFS office will be closed for two weeks, starting Friday, October 11, while the staff is away to Baltimore for the 2019 Annual Meeting. During this time, staff will check email periodically, but may not be able to respond to all messages; we will begin to follow up on all inquiries when the office re-opens October 28.
