AFS LGBTQIA+ Section Guide for Annual Meeting, Baltimore Edition

The LGBTQIA+ Section would like to give a warm welcome to everyone that plans to attend the AFS Annual Meeting in Baltimore.The section is co-sponsoring many great sessions and events with the Queer as Folk mini-conference this year Don't miss these:

Queer as Folk(lore) Kick-off Disco Dance Party
Thurs. 9:30 pm–11:00 pm in Harborview

04-07 Queer as Folk(lore): Spotlight Panel 
Fri. 8-10 am in the Baltimore room

05-07 InQUEERy: Folklore Studies Meets Queer Theory 
Fri. 10:15 am–12:15 pm in the Baltimore room

06-01 Queer As Folk(lore): Creating a Queer Altar
Fri. 2-4 pm in the Baltimore room

The Ghosts of Gay Baltimore Tour (pre-registration required; see AFS Review for more information)
Fri. at 7 pm

And for members of the section, make sure to attend the section meeting on Saturday, 12:45 pm–1:45 pm. It will be in the Camden/Lombard room on the 3rd floor.

In addition to the sponsored events and sessions, the section will also have ribbons out on the info table again and encourages everyone who is interested to pick one up (or consider re-using yours from last year if you still have it). You do not have to be a section member to take a ribbon.

  • Also, since the society is now providing pronoun stickers for attendees at registration, the section did not order more pronoun buttons this year. However, extras from last year will still be available - feel free to take one to reuse at other conferences.
