Attending the American Folklore Society Annual Meeting in Baltimore?

The William G. Pomeroy Foundation, a private, grant-making foundation based in Syracuse, N.Y., will be exhibiting and welcomes attendees to visit their booth to learn about partnership opportunities for its nationwide Legends & Lore Marker Grant Program. The Foundation will also host a drawing for a chance to win a $100 Amazon gift card.

Funded by the Pomeroy Foundation, Legends & Lore helps communities celebrate their local folklore and legends with fully funded roadside marker grants. For examples of Legends & Lore markers, visit the Pomeroy Foundation’s digital marker map. This unique marker program is the only nationwide effort of its kind.

Over the past year, Legends & Lore has expanded from one to nine states thanks to new partnerships formed with state folklore and cultural organizations. The Foundation invites folklore organizations to consider becoming a Legends & Lore partner. Legends & Lore partners must have a statewide reach and be one of the following: 501(c)(3) organizations, nonprofit academic institutions or state supported councils/agencies.

Stop by the Pomeroy Foundation’s table during exhibition hours or set up a time to chat. Drop off your business card to enter the gift card drawing. A winner will be randomly selected and notified by phone at the close of exhibition hours on October 18.

Not at AFS this year? The Pomeroy Foundation also invites those interested in becoming a Legends & Lore partner to contact Deryn Pomeroy, Director of Strategic Initiatives, at (315) 913-4060 or by emailing deryn@wgpfoundation.org. To learn more, visit the Foundation’s Legends & Lore.
