The AFS Executive Board has approved a new African American Folklore Section, and the section will meet for the first time in Baltimore, on Thursday, October 17, 12:45 pm in Constellation D. We invite anyone with an interest in African American folklore to attend this inaugural meeting to discuss priorities and plans for the future. If you’re interested in joining the section but you can’t attend the business meeting, contact founding conveners Lamont Pearly at lamontjackpearley@racefilmmusic.com or David Todd Lawrence at dtlawrence@stthomas.edu.

More information about the section and how to join will be forthcoming on the AFS website after the 2019 Annual Meeting.
