AFS Women’s Section Invites Entries for Elli Köngas-Maranda Prize

October 1 is the deadline for submitting to the Elli Köngas-Maranda (EKM) Student Prize offered by the Women’s Section of the American Folklore Society. The prize recognizes superior work on women’s traditional, vernacular, and local culture and/or feminist theory and folklore. Awards will be announced at the section’s meeting during the AFS Annual Meeting. Prize recipients are not required to be members of AFS.

This prize is awarded to an undergraduate or graduate student’s paper. Entrants must be either currently enrolled in a degree program as of the submission deadline or have been enrolled within the previous academic year. This prize's honorarium is $100. The paper can be up to 30 pages in length. Papers can be submitted electronically (preferred) to Susan Eleuterio at sueeleu@gmail.com or by mail to:
