September 16 Conference Hotel Cut-Off Date Approaching, and AFS Block Hasn’t Reached Minimum

If you haven’t booked your Baltimore hotel, please do so now! The conference rate ends September 16, and AFS may be liable for unbooked rooms.

Though the number of meeting registrations has reached a new high in recent years, the number of guest rooms booked in the conference hotel has reached a new low, not yet fulfilling our contractual obligation to fill 80% of the AFS block. Read You Support AFS and Lower Meeting Costs when You Stay in the Conference Hotel to understand what’s at stake.

Can you help?

  • Have you put off reserving your room? Don’t delay any more! The cut-off for the conference rate is just over a week away.
  • Did you find a bargain elsewhere? If your circumstances permit, consider expressing your support for the Society by changing your plans. And factor in the convenience of avoiding Baltimore marathon traffic and the relative ease of enjoying both early morning sessions as well as this year’s late-night dance parties.
  • Did you book at the Hyatt Regency Baltimore Inner Harbor using a third-party booking agent? If so, your reservation may not have been recognized as part of the AFS block; contact us at AmericanFolkloreSociety@afsnet.org, so we can claim your reservation as part of our block.
