McKissick Museum, located at the University of South Carolina (USC), invites candidates to apply for an open position as the Folklife Program Coordinator. Applications are due October 4.

The Folklife Program Coordinator will work with the McKissick’s Chief Curator of Folklife & Fieldwork in planning and implementing folklife-related public programs and research. This will include the planning and implementation of major annual public programs such as The Jean Laney Harris Folk Heritage Awards Ceremony, a mixer featuring the recipients to the Jean Laney Harris Folk Heritage Award, and FOLKFabulous—a 12-day public program series organized in partnership with the South Carolina State Fair in conjunction with the museum’s year-long folklife exhibition(s).

The Folklife Program Coordinator will also be in charge of developing two to three other programs annually that integrate tradition bearers statewide to enhance the impact of the year-long folklife exhibit. Lastly, this person will also conduct in-depth fieldwork with traditional bearers identified with the Traditional Bearers Survey Project, log audio/visual material for deposit in the Folklife Resource Center (FRC), and make research available through Digital Traditions and other digital media platforms.
