"Why I'm a Folklorist" is an ongoing film project initiated by former AFS President Kay Turner. Over sixty short interviews have been filmed for the project, fifty-six of which are currently available online. To view all of the "Why I'm a Folklorist" interviews published so far, please visit the "Why I'm a Folklorist" playlist on the American Folklore Society Youtube channel.

In these short interviews, Kay asks colleagues from across our varied discipline to explain why they are folklorists in just two minutes or less. For more information about the "Why I'm a Folklorist" project, visit the description of the project published in the AFS Review on October 5, 2017.

The set of twenty-two new videos published this month includes many interviews recorded at the 2017 AFS Annual Meeting in Minneapolis.

If you would like to tell your own story for this project, or if you would like to host a "Why I'm a Folklorist" filming event, please contact Kay Turner or the American Folklore Society (americanfolkloresociety@gmail.com).
