The Annual Meeting Program Addendum Is an Essential Resource for Attendees

When a presenter drops out of the AFS annual meeting, all subsequent presentations move up to fill the gap. Such unexpected schedule changes can easily create unpleasant surprises for attendees who have carefully mapped out their schedules based on printed program material.

How can we avoid this pitfall?

1. Presenters must inform AFS staff  immediately concerning any changes in presentation plans, so that information can be shared with attendees. Contact us at AmericanFolkloreSociety@gmail.com even if you must drop out at the last minute.

2. Attendees must remember to check the Program Addendum even up to the start of any paper session to make sure that there are no last-minute withdrawals.

Each year, the printed program book is distributed with a print program addendum that includes all program changes through October 1.

The conference app will contain updated information through October 1.

To find changes after October 1, check the online Program Addendum. Late changes will be highlighted for quick identification.

This year, we are also beta-testing an online program that currently includes the schedule but no supplemental material, like abstracts or meeting information. Staff will endeavor to keep this online program updated through the meeting.
