Folk Alliance International Invites Survey Responses from Venues and Concert Presenters

Folk Alliance International (FAI) is a 501c3 organization that produces the world’s largest conference for the folk music industry. FAI represents artists, industry, and presenters covering a diverse array of genres including Appalachian, Americana, Blues, Bluegrass, Celtic, Cajun, Francophone, Global Roots, Indigenous, Latin, Old Time, Traditional, Singer-Songwriter, and Spoken Word.

Following the success of their House Concert Agreement, FAI has commenced conversation with U.S. Performing Rights Organizations (PROs) to negotiate licensing fees and arrangements on behalf of small venues and concert series (under 200 seats) presenting live music.

They are inviting any small venues and concert series presenter to complete a survey to assist in their negotiations. The information gathered from the survey is strictly confidential and will not be directly associated with the respondent. Aggregate data collected through the survey will be utilized by the committee to provide context for FAI negotiations on behalf of small venues.

This form is intended to be completed by 1.) venues that present music or 2.) concert series presenters who are responsible for paying fees to the PROs because the venue does not.

Please share this with your own networks of small venues or other Concert Series presenters in the U.S.; more responses create a more accurate and comprehensive representation of small venue needs.

Survey responses are due by Monday, October 1, 2018.

1.)  Venues (click here to begin):
If you are not the primary booker, please send this form to the venue administrator for completion. If you are the primary booker for multiple venues, please complete the form multiple times.

2.) Concert Series Presenters (click here to begin):
Fill in this form if you do not own and/or operate a venue, but are responsible for paying the PRO fees for music events that you produce and present from time to time. If any venue you use pays a blanket PRO license which covers your requirement to pay the fees, DO NOT fill in this form. In this case, please pass this form along to the venue administrator to complete.

Please contact Folk Alliance International directly at (816) 221-3655 or fai@folk.org if you have any questions.
