The 2018 Annual Meeting of the American Folklore Society will take place in Buffalo, New York on October 17–20, 2018. Here is information you will need to make your plans for the meeting:

Preliminary Program

We have posted the preliminary program to the 2018 annual meeting page at https://www.afsnet.org/mpage/AMPreliminaryProgram.

Please review the preliminary program carefully. We must receive all corrections by June 30. Please email any issues with the program to lcashman@indiana.edu and to americanfolkloresociety@gmail.com.

If your proposal indicated that you were flexible about the duration of your presentation, please take note of the time that you have been assigned; the assigned duration is represented with each paper in the preliminary program (start times will be included in later versions of the schedule). All other presenters have been assigned the time block they requested.

Publishing Participant Information

In the interests of promoting scholarly communication, our standard is to print program participants’ names, affiliations, email and twitter handles in our program material, which can be accessed by the general public in a variety of formats, including our print program book, conference app, and digital versions linked to our website. If you do not want your email and/or twitter handle published, contact us by June 30.

Registration

All presenters must register for the annual meeting; if you have not already registered, please do so now at https://www.afsnet.org/events/register.aspx?id=1056956. You must be registered by June 30 to be included in the final program. In the future, essential communications about the annual meeting will be directed only to registered attendees.

Letters of Invitation

If you require a letter of invitation for a visa application or other official purposes, please contact AmericanFolkloreSociety@gmail.com.

Annual Meeting Policies

Be sure to review all of our annual meeting policies, including important information about cancellations and AV, at https://www.afsnet.org/general/custom.asp?page=AMpolicies. Don’t risk being treated as a “no-show”: remember that it is essential that you inform us directly of any changes in your presentation or panel so that we can update the program.

All Annual Meeting Information Posted to AFS Website

Check the 2018 Annual Meeting page regularly at https://www.afsnet.org/page/2018AM for further announcements as our preparations for the upcoming meeting progress. At the moment, you will find links to reserving a hotel room, mentoring, preconference opportunities, and exploring the area on your own.

We look forward to seeing you in Buffalo.
