The MLA Forum on Folklore, Myth, and Fairy Tales is seeking papers for a panel called “Ethnographic Fictions” for the 2019 MLA Convention in Chicago. This panel will explore the connections between ethnography and literature. What are some of the implications of reading or writing (or refusing to read or write) literature ethnographically?

The Forum welcomes papers from a broad array of disciplines and perspectives, whether they be essays focused on readings of individual texts, on craft, or on folklore, ethnographic, and/or literary theory.

Please send 300-word abstract and short CV to Shelley Ingram ( by March 18, 2018.
