The Society for Applied Anthropology (SfAA) invites abstracts (sessions, papers, and posters) for the Program of the 2018 Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, PA, April 3-7.

The complete pre-registration and abstract submission information is on the SfAA website, and the SfAA office is ready to accept submissions for the Philadelphia meetings. Please go to to begin the pre-registration process.

The abstract submission deadline is October 15.

The Program Committee is very busy developing a package of tours and workshops to complement the program. We expect to publicize the tours and workshops soon. If you have an idea for a workshop that would be of interest to the registrants, please go to the website and complete the workshop application form at Note that you must register first in order to complete the workshop application form.

The SfAA supports student travel awards annually; each award is worth $500. The awards may be used for travel to the annual meeting in Philadelphia. You must submit a paper/poster abstract for the annual meeting in order to be eligible for one of the travel awards. Please go to for additional information.

The Loews Philadelphia Hotel will serve as the host hotel for the meetings. You can make your lodging reservation and obtain the special discounted guest room rate by going to: on the online booking link and choose Attendee from the drop-down menu.

You are strongly encouraged to make lodging reservations at your earliest convenience. Registration has been very strong for SfAA's 78th Annual Meeting, so please make your reservations while rooms are still available.

The Society for Applied Anthropology (SfAA) was founded in 1941 to promote the investigation of the principles of human behavior and the application of these principles to contemporary issues and problems. Since that time membership has expanded to over 2,000. The Society now sponsors two major journals (Human Organization and Practicing Anthropology) as well as a Monograph Series and occasional special publications.
