Job Summary: Assists with core programs (annual conference, publications, and academic prizes) of the Society for Ethnomusicology, an external agency of Indiana University Bloomington.

Manages membership services, member communications, marketing, and an extensive member database. Serves as assistant website editor, develops content for website and social media, coordinates online workgroups, assists with production of conference materials (including smartphone app), and coordinates conference video-streaming. Manages the organization’s financial transactions and records, office operations, and assists with special projects.

Required Qualifications:

REQUIRED: High school diploma or GED and three years of office experience including or supplemented by experience in administering a program.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), including a customer service orientation and ability to offer effective customer service to all constituencies and to promote a positive image of the organization. Superior writing and editing skills including ability to proofread correspondence, reports, and website materials; and thorough knowledge of composition, grammar, and style.

Strong organizational and multitasking skills including ability to manage large quantities of detailed information, ensure accuracy of records and communications, troubleshoot problems, and meet deadlines. Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision and carry out work with close attention to details and to the systematic organization of large quantities of information.

Basic arithmetic ability and familiarity with Microsoft Office, website, and social media software. Knowledge of the following: video streaming technologies, camera operating, and video-editing software; database software, including the ability to design and run queries; accounting software and bookkeeping procedures; and standard office software.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree; one year of experience with bookkeeping and data management; familiarity with or ability to learn video technology; knowledge of QuickBooks.
