The 18th Annual Banjo Gathering will take place Friday, October 30, 2015 through Sunday, November 1, 2015, at the Baltimore Waterfront Marriott.

This Gathering will have more than its share of compelling presentations and events. Here’s an
abbreviated list of what’s happening:

  • A walking tour of Boucher’s Baltimore and the city’s cultural history
  • An introduction to Baltimore’s *other* important early banjo maker
  • Surveys of 19th century Baltimore music makers and city images
  • New research about Fred Bacon in Forest Dale
  • A history of Japanese banjos
  • A narrative by a foremost banjo scholar on his changing views of the banjo in America
  • An introduction and a peek at the first ever "Illustrated History of the Banjo”

The Gathering’s organizers are also launching a two-year program to ensure that future Banjo Gatherings are more relevant and engaging to a broader — and younger —range of banjo enthusiasts. The goal is to successfully transform the Gathering in time for the 20th Anniversary Gala Gathering in two years. This year there will be a general discussion on "The Future or Death of Banjo Collecting” and a panel discussion led by younger banjo geeks on the Banjo Gathering of the Future. If anyone — especially younger banjo enthusiasts or people who have gravitated to other types of Gatherings, rather than Collectors Gatherings in the past — would like to join the panel, please let us know.

The registration fee is $250. Sign up early to avoid disappointment as the Gathering can only accommodate a limited number of participants. Registration payments should be made to:

Peter Szego
2 Beekman Lane
Hillsborough, NJ 08844

The cost of the guest rooms is $169 per night for single or double occupancy. There is a block of rooms reserved for Friday and Saturday nights, and a small quantity of rooms for Thursday and Sunday nights for those who may want to extend their stay in Baltimore. Make your room reservations ASAP as the number of rooms in our block is very limited. You may reserve your rooms online at or by phone at 877-212-5752.
