In this six-week immersive workshop, the group will use magic and metaphor to transform life stories. Parallel Narratives combines fortune telling, tarot, symbology, dream analysis, and other interpretive tools to guide participants on a perspective-bending experience. Through exploratory exercises and mindful facilitation, Trish Denton will introduce the group to the tradition of oral storytelling. This is not a writing workshop. This is not The Moth. It is a conversational approach to story creation. Working from life stories as a starting point, the group will draw from a variety of folktales, pop culture and mythology to craft empowering new narratives. Be prepared to listen, speak up, and experiment with elaboration through collaboration. For the final class, the group will host a storytelling circle to share the new narratives. You will walk away with a final piece, a new skill set, deeper knowledge of folklore and oral storytelling, as well as a personalized reading of folkloric symbolism that relates to your life story.

This workshop will be held remotely via Zoom. Please be sure to register with an active email. The email used for your registration will be address used to receive the link each week.

Dates: 6-8 pm EST on Wednesdays, October 14th, October 21st, October 28th, November 4th, November 11th, and a final sharing on November 18th.

Participants must commit to attending all 6 sessions, as the process requires each class. Tuition is $180 and pre-registration required. Space is limited to 8 participants.

Prior to signing up, please be committed to attending all 6 sessions since space is limited and the class will fill.
