The Elphinstone Institute at the University of Aberdeen presents its third Folklore, Ethnology, Ethnomusicology Conference Aberdeen (FEECA)—with the theme of Connections, Creativity, Continuity: Insider-Outside Perspectives. It will be hosted at the Elphinstone Institute on July 3–5, 2020.

This conference aims to create a space to explore the purposes the work of ethnologists, folklorists, ethnomusicologists, and community activists. Often these roles combine academic research and community-based, socially engaged practice. How do we navigate between these different worlds? What is the significance of our work? Is it to contribute to new knowledge, or to make a difference to the lives of the people we work alongside? Is this a dichotomy, or is there a more nuanced way to look at the interplay between academia, communities, and activism?

Proposals for presentations are being accepted until December 22. For more information, see the AFS Review.

For more information on the conference, see FEECA 2020
