Introduction: Jan Rosenberg, Senior Convener, facilitated the meeting.
Carol Spellman, Junior Convener, took notes and facilitated an opening
activity called Passing the Batea.
Carol passed a hand made wooden plate painted by Mexican folk artist Antonio
Ramos (living in Woodburn, Oregon). All members in attendance, approximately
23, held the batea and shared their name and a brief story about their
cultural heritage and a family tradition. This was an effective way to
establish a community gathering atmosphere for the meeting and provide
introductions of new members and current members.
Minutes of the Last Meeting and Old Business
Jan Rosenberg shared the minutes from the previous meeting in 2003. She
then shared information about the Robinson-Roeder-Ward Fellowship. She
discussed how to donate money to the award. Regular member donations need
to go into the Folklore and Education Fund. One way of supporting this
fund is through the Public Program Auction. Funds accrued by the sale
of items donated by the section at this auction are for this fellowship
award.

avoid the April AFS deadline. Gregory talked about the column
for new materials and the 75 word maximum. Gregory and Rosemary
passed out cards for people to report on their work in folklore
education.
Maida Owens suggested that there be a more systematic inventory
of websites. It was mentioned that Cathy Kerst had a listing of
