|2015 Annual Meeting: Exhibiting and Advertising|
Exhibitors and Advertisers
The American Folklore Society invites publishers of materials of interest to folklorists in all media to reserve exhibition space at the Society's 2015 annual meeting, scheduled at the Westin Long Beach, October 14–17, 2015 (exhibit days are October 15–17). The theme of the meeting, on which presentations will be encouraged but not required, is "Ecologies, Encounters, and Enactments."
Produced every year since 1889, the AFS annual meeting is the largest professional gathering of folklorists in the world, bringing more than 800 folklorists together for professional and social interaction. Registration and proposal numbers have grown steadily in recent years; last year we achieved new record numbers. We expect another good turnout for our 2015 meeting.
This year, our schedule again builds in free time to allow participants more opportunities for informal engagement—and browsing the exhibit room! Long lunches (12:15–2:00 p.m.) and evening free time (Thursday, 4:00–6:00 p.m.) will allow participants more time to shop.
In order to increase traffic to the exhibit room further, we will schedule several other activities in or in the immediate vicinity of the exhibit room, including complimentary morning and afternoon beverage service each day for exhibitors and attendees and table-top presentations by a number of AFS interest-group sections.
All exhibitors will receive a complimentary listing in the AFS annual meeting program book, but we encourage you to send your message to meeting attendees by reserving ad space in the book. All exhibitors will receive significant discounts (between 30% and 80%) on the purchase of advertising space, and exhibitors who rent three tables will receive a half-page ad FREE!
