|AFS 2011 Annual Meeting Practical Information|
NOTE: As of
September 19, there are no more sleeping rooms available at the Indiana
Memorial Union, the Marriott Courtyard, or the Hilton Garden Inn.
All meeting sessions will take place at the Indiana Memorial Union (IMU) on the Indiana University campus, and most sleeping rooms will be there as well. To accommodate everyone who will be attending, we have reserved an additional block of rooms at the Marriott Courtyard in downtown Bloomington, a 15-minute walk from the IMU. We have also made additional arrangements for a limited number of rooms at the Hilton Garden Inn (also in downtown Bloomington) for $149 per night, plus tax, for single or double occupancy. We will also provide shuttle transportation during the meeting between the Marriott Courtyard, the Hilton Garden Inn, and the IMU.Rates at the IMU, exclusive of tax, are as follows: one full bed $125, two full beds $155; and two queen beds or one king bed $165. The Marriott Courtyard rate is $144, plus tax, for single or double occupancy.
To make a reservation at the IMU, call 800/209-8145 (toll-free) or 812/855-2536. Use the meeting code AMFOLKL when you make your reservation.
To make a reservation at the Marriott Courtyard, please call Carol Bachmann of the hotel's sales staff at 812/335-8000.
The closest airport to Bloomington is Indianapolis International Airport (IND). The Bloomington Shuttle service provides convenient and frequent transportation directly from the Indianapolis airport to the IU Memorial Union, the Marriott Courtyard, and the Hilton Garden Inn and back. The trip takes about 90 minutes and costs $16 each way. Please make your shuttle reservation online to receive this discounted price and to ensure you have a seat at just the time you need it—they will add more vehicles according to advance reservations.
