2013 Annual Meeting: Submitting a Proposal Online |
Thank you for your interest in participating in the American Folklore Society’s 2013 Annual Meeting in Providence, Rhode Island. The deadline for submitting online or mailed-in proposals for the meeting program is March 31; because the deadline falls on a Sunday, we will extend the cut off until Noon, Eastern US Daylight Time, on April 1.
Before you register, you must have ready all the information required for your proposal type.
Proposals for Individual Presentations Those who propose an individual presentation will, in one sitting, register for the annual meeting, submit payment, then submit the proposal. If accepted, individual presentations will be grouped with others in a two-hour session; posters will be presented also in an on-going exhibition. Please click on the links below for instructions specific to each presentation type.
Proposals for Pre-organized Sessions The chair of a pre-organized session submits all the information for the session. This means that the chair will register (only) him/herself for the annual meeting, then submit the proposal for the session, including the information about the session as a whole and the information about each participant. Please click on the links below for instructions specific to each presentation type. Chairs of pre-organized sessions are responsible for requesting accommodations in advance for all the participants' audiovisual and scheduling needs.
Those who propose to participate in a pre-organized session must:
Those who are proposing individual presentations or who are chairing pre-organized sessions will register at the time that they submit the proposal. Those who propose to present but not act as chair in a pre-organized session should register before March 31. Those who will not present may preregister online until August 31, 2013. On site registration will be available at slightly higher rates.
Student and low-income members of AFS enjoy considerable savings over non-members in meeting registration rates. If you are not a member of AFS, why not join now to take advantage of the discount, and all the other benefits of membership? (Note: You will not be able to register for the annual meeting at the member rate until your membership has been manually approved by AFS staff; that administrative process may take a few days. You can sign in and submit your registration and/or proposal after you receive an email notification that your membership is activated.) Need Help? See the Annual Meeting in FAQ, which includes a video demonstration of submitting a proposal, or Contact Us.
