Did you know that funds are available--on a first come, first served basis, until they are gone or until May 2013--to support consultancies and professional development?

  • This means, for instance, that your organization could bring in an expert to help you improve or expand your efforts in fundraising, exhibition or publication design, marketing and publicity, media production, or organizational development and management.
  • Alternatively, this means that you could travel to visit other organizations, or take part in events that will allow you to advance your folk arts work.

Did you know, too, that the products of past recipients of these funds – case studies, guides, and reports on best practices – can be downloaded from the AFS website? Topics include

  • K-12 educational activities
  • online audio/video archives
  • Augmented Reality Interactive Storytelling
  • "State Folk Arts Programs: Achievements, Challenges, Needs,"
  • strategic planning
  • preserving and interpreting folk art environments
  • folk festival planning
  • preserving ethnographic research materials
  • cultural sustainability
  • cultural tourism
  • foodways in folk festivals
  • photographing folk art and artists

The funding for this AFS Consultancy and Professional Development Program is from the Folk and Traditional Arts Program of the National Endowment for the Arts.
