Connecticut River Museum Searching for Contractor to Consult on Upcoming Exhibit

Tuesday, April 08, 2014   (0 Comments)

The Connecticut River Museum, located in Essex, CT, is looking for a qualified folklorist who specializes in New England to consult on an exhibit. This person will be one of several academics and museum professionals helping the museum create a plan for an exhibit on Myths and Legends of the Connecticut River due to open in 2016. The project will include 3–4 meetings (ideally in Essex, CT) with the rest of the exhibit team. The folklorist will be asked (along with other team members) to help research and collect stories along the 410 miles of the Connecticut River. As part of this research, they will identify appropriate locations, artifacts and images that will bring the stories to life. Towards the end of the planning phase the consultant will be asked to edit the exhibit script, related website content and educational materials. Anticipated hours of consulting during the planning stage are 60. Planning for this project is anticipated to start July 2014 with a research completion date of March 2015. Additional work might be available during the project's implementation stage.

If interested, please contact the Connecticut River Museum’s Executive Director, Christopher Dobbs, at 860-767-8269 x112 or via email at cdobbs@ctrivermuseum.org. Send resume, three professional references and hourly rate for consulting by April 18.
